Vienna is a contemporary metropolis with a high quality of life. Politics and the magistrate set measures with farsightedness in order to be able to maintain and expand this situation in the long term.
Magistrate’s department 14, General data processing, information and communication technology make an important contribution to the implementation of these requirements. The good service for the Viennese people would not be possible without IT support.
For this reason, it was only logical to combine into one program certain sensitive administrative tasks, which had been processed in 4 magistrate’s departments and the district offices for 20 years with 4 independent programs. The citizens and not the administrative task are to be the focus.
A draft and detailed concept was created in order to set out the objectives and tasks. In a comprehensive preliminary project, the technologies were tested. Many systems involved had to the linked. To make sure that the project was correctly planned and measured, DI Erwin Gillich, head of MA 14, ordered a cross referencing. To do this, spirit in projects GmbH was chosen.
The complexity of the overall project, the selection of the technologies used, the quality of the requirements, the project planning and the project organisation were to be checked. Furthermore, a cost estimate and scheduling were to be verified and finally set out for the project.
spirit in projects took a 2-level approach. After 1 week, the first preliminary report was published. After the green lift from Mr DI Erwin Gillich for level 2, the final result of the cross-referencing was available after only 2 weeks. The topics and solutions detected were specified in detail in a catalogue of measures.
The management of MA 14 is now requesting spirit in projects to oversee the challenging tasks so that they are also implemented as planned.
spirit in project supported the project at all levels: project management, requirements management, structural support for architecture and design, test group suitable for major project, efficient fault management, optimisation of project controlling, etc.
Mr Paul Pellmann, head of he Development Department at the MA14: “spirit in projects actively incorporated the newly created MA14 organisational structure and helped to use it for the project to the optimum.”
The software is in production to deadline with release 1. Ultimately, 600 employees of the magistrate’s department and district offices will use it.
Mr DI Erwin Gillich, head of MA14: “The professionalism, the comprehensive knowledge of the consultants of spirit in projects and the major practical experience hugely supported us in our project. We made the right choice. I can hugely recommend spirit in projects.”
