spirit in projects untersucht die Usability des RIS des BKA

spirit in projects and the FH Joanneum University of Applied Services Institute for Information Design have in their research work developed methods for the assessment of usability taking into account the work environment.

With these methods, the legal information system (RIS) of Austria’s Federal Chancellery (BKA) http://www.ris.bka.gv.atwas analysed. Under the leadership of Mag. DI Wolfgang Hiermann of spirit in projects GmbH, Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Doris Ulrich of the Institute for Information Design of the FH Joanneum in Graz examined with its research team what technologies and methods could be used to analyse the usability taking into account the work environment of the end users.
The focuses of the research work were:

  • To conduct a target group analysis.
  • To find approaches to optimise work methods and processes with the help of suitable information design.
  • To analyse premisses such as structure, navigation, layout and design.
  • To analyse the dimensions of clarity and user guidance and their effects on the work environment.
  • To support suitable methods for information design which support to the optimum the transfer phase and the application phase.

To this end, with permission from the Federal Chancellery, under the leadership of Mag. Barotanyi the legal information system of the Federation (RIS) was examined.

Mag. Barotanyi: “…Some of our concerns were confirmed, some desired changes from the research result we have already implemented. In any event, we will try to use this input for our further development. …“

The research results are used in the consulting activities regarding requirements engineering and software development processes.
We wish to thank everybody involved for the successful research work.
